Climb for Kid’s Sake Day 14: Last outpost before Base Camp!
May 14, 2010 by Trevor · Leave a Comment
Each day the distance we trek is shorter and our steps are more measured and slow. This is partly because the air is much thinner and partly because we must navigate the ice and rubble on Khumbu Glacier. Okay, and all the photographs we’re taking…! We arrived at Gorak Shep, at 16,800 ft. it’s the highest village on the Everest trek. This old yersa, or seasonal yak grazing area, has become the last outpost before Everest Base Camp. We’re staying in Gork Shep tonight and tomorrow…Base Camp!!
