Climb for Kid’s Sake Day 17: The trek home – Pheriche to Namche Bazaar

We trekked hard today to make it from Pherishe to Namche Bazaar. I have now had a hot shower and a shave and I’ve re-organized my gear. I took a few items in for laundering so I can trek the rest of the way smelling somewhat normal!!  We are about to have dinner and then go to bed! It’s only 6:30 but there isn’t much to do other than play crazy eights with the group and I’ve got a ton of journalling to do!

This morning Jamie Clarke from Calgary reached the summit of Mt. Everest at 8:40 AM and I was able to be with three of his best friends from Calgary when he did it! I took photos of the radio transmission conversations and it was so cool to hear his voice on top of the world! The guys from Calgary are also with Berg Adventures so our groups have now merged. The three guys I met got very sick and needed to come from Base camp to Pherishe yesterday. We had met them on their way up but I thought they would stay in base camp and we would not get to be a part of this summit experience but voila!  Who knew I’d have the opportunity to make new friends from Calgary all the way in Nepal!  We will get to meet Jamie Clarke and have a chance to bask in the glory with him in Katmandu!
