St. Marys School Fundraiser
February 11, 2009 by Trevor · Leave a Comment
This is such an awesome story! I hope all of you can feel the same excitement I feel as you read this!!
As many of you are aware, in February of 2007, I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters Lethbridge. During my time in Africa, I also took the opportunity to work on an orphanage/school in Tanzania, called the Linde School. After I returned, I did a presentation at St. Mary’s School about my trip to Africa and the work I did there.
Touched by my presentation, the Teacher, the school Principal and the grade 6 students decided to collect their pocket change daily and see how much they could raise to support the additional work I will be doing when I return to Tanzania for the second time in 2008. After this campaign, the students also came up with the idea to hold a bake sale for the Linde School/Orphanage. In half an hour, the baking was sold out and, combined with the pocket change gathered by the children and some teachers, they raised a grand total of $573.00!!
This money will go a long long way towards building materials while I am in Africa. I will be there in the 24th of February to start my work on the School!
Here’s a picture of Principal Greg Miller, grade 6 teacher Annie Greeno, my Little Brother Zach and me. Zach is presenting me with the envelope of money.
This picture is of Annie Greeno and me. Annie is presenting me with letters and pictures created by the grade 6 students for the children in the Linde School.
God Bless you all!! Many Thanks and Hugs,
Trevor
